Membership in the Chamber

Membership in the QCA brings together actuarial specialists, candidates and members of the academic community on the basis of common professional standards, ethics and a qualification system.

MEMBERSHIP CLASSES
M-01Advisory vote
Candidate
An individual who has entered the QCA qualification system and passed at least one examination.
M-02Advisory vote
Associate Member
A specialist who has met the qualification requirements of the initial professional level.
M-03Deciding vote
Full Member (Actuary)
A specialist who has fully met the qualification requirements of the full professional level.
M-04Advisory vote
Academic Member
A representative of the academic, teaching or research community in mathematics, statistics and finance.
M-05Advisory vote
Honorary Member
A person with an outstanding contribution to the development of the profession or the establishment of the QCA; elected by the General Meeting.
RIGHTS OF MEMBERS
  • Participation in governance: Full Members hold the right to a deciding vote and the right to be elected to the Council and the Audit Commission.
  • Access to the Chamber's educational programmes, materials, examinations and certification procedures.
  • Access to the database of translated standards of practice and to closed professional discussions.
  • The right to receive information about the QCA's activity and the use of its property.
OBLIGATIONS OF MEMBERS
  • Comply with the Charter, the Code of Professional Conduct, and the Chamber's rules and standards of practice.
  • Ensure a high quality of actuarial work in accordance with the standards.
  • Undertake continuing professional development and submit reports under the CPD system.
  • Pay admission, membership and special-purpose contributions in a timely manner.
MEMBERSHIP CONTRIBUTIONS

The amount, procedure and deadlines for paying membership contributions are approved by the General Meeting of QCA Members. Contributions are differentiated by membership class (reduced — for Candidates/Students, full — for Associate and Full Members) and are used exclusively for the Chamber's statutory purposes: organising examinations, translating standards, and maintaining registries and web resources.
